Matching the route to your trip length
With one week, limit the number of long transfers. The one-week itinerary uses Marrakech and Fes as anchors; longer trips can add a loop through other regions. The northern circuit links Tangier, Chefchaouen and Fes, while the Sahara + Atlas route focuses on southern overland travel.
Frequent base changes increase packing, check-in and transfer time. Compare a slower base plan with a multi-stop route, and price open-jaw and return flights from current quotes rather than assuming they cost the same.

Build each transfer from door to door: checkout, travel to the terminal, check-in or boarding margin, the scheduled service, likely delay and onward travel to the next property. Use refundable accommodation while dates, weather or event schedules remain uncertain. Recheck every long road, mountain, desert and ferry segment shortly before departure, and identify the stop that can be removed if conditions deteriorate.
